Week 3 post 4

   Good afternoon blog! I finally finished my storyboard, yay! I made some changes to it as well! For the original thought for my film opening, I wanted to show the “bull” which was the hacker that was going to be hacking the world with his technology. I wasn’t planning on showing the hacker’s face but, I was planning on showing the shadow. Now, my upgraded plan is to only show the bull on the screen! 

Grab a blanket and some food because, it’s time for the story! The opening starts off with a seventeen year old teenage girl walking over to her bed to scroll through Instagram. While she is scrolling through the reels, the bull pops up on her phone! The hacker gives a warning to go open her door to her room. She doesn’t follow the rule. She walks back over to her bed and suddenly you hear a scream! The next cut starts off with a lawyer walking over to his desk. He gets a call while working and decides to not follow the rule (don’t make the deal). The room goes black and credits start! Below is my storyboard! 

The last thing I want to talk about is my shooting process! I will be shooting multiple days starting next week maybe. This is just to get a few shots in to make sure it’s perfect! We have a lot of time to film so, I want to make sure I can make it the best possible!

Week 3 post 3

 Good afternoon blog! Today, I will be telling you about the actors in my movie since, I didn’t quite get there yet! In my next blog (tomorrow), I will be drawing and laying out the whole story board! For the actors in my movie, I am planning to use my father as the “mysterious bull”. I will also be using his dark colored clothing (dark grey sweater with hood), because, when the hood is up it looks more suspicious. The no showing of the face in the hoodie makes the viewers think that there is a reason why the man is not being shown. Well there is, he is a hacker!

  For the other actors in my film opening, I will mainly be using my family members. I will be showing some of their faces I have decided but, for the main character “the bull”, I will not be. I will be using my mother and my older sister. For the mese-en-scene, they will be wearing bright colors at first and will later start wearing darker colors as the movie opening progresses. Week 3 post 2

    Hey blog! Today in class I will be researching more on my topic (hacker/technology taking over the world.) I will also be talking about my story outline in this post! The first thing I looked into today was the type of audio I will be using. Since the film has a mystery/sci-fi genre, I decided that the opening would start off with no sound. Overtime, I have an idea of the audio getting a faster pace. This will make the audience more aware and, it will get them questioning/thinking of what might be going on! To find this audio, I will be looking on different websites that doesn't have the sound copyrighted. I will NOT be digitally messaging a star!

  Instead of the audio being more of an alien/sci-fi noise, I decided it would be best if I choose one that sounds more of a mystery. I decided to do this because, I looked up some sci-fi movie trailers and, I realized that the sci- fi genre is more of a modern and technical genre. My plot has nothing to do with Sci- fi genre I just now realized! The whole point of my film opening is to get the viewers thinking. From now on, I will be saying that this film has a mystery genre! 

Now that I have all of that figured out, not only do I want the audio to go from a slow pace to a fast pace but, I would also like it to get from quiet to noisier! The last thing that I will be talking about in today's blog, will be about the main character of my production! The bull in my film opening, will be known as the hacker. Throughout the whole opening of my production, you will be able to see the side profile of the hacker and him typing but, the face will never be shown. To create a sense of mystery, I will also try to be creating his shadow. Yay... I am very excited that my project is coming along. For my next post I will be starting the storyline as well as the storyboard! I am very excited to see how my film opening will turn out!

Week 3 post 1

 Hey blog! This week I will be posting a reflection of my research, my detail planning which includes the outlines, the layout drawings, story boards, shooting schedules and etc! Today (February 24), I will be starting the research portion of my film opening! 

The first thing I thought about was, how do you make the audience inquire what the film is about? Well, from my research, I discovered that it is quite important to use the main character (the bull), near the end of the film opening. This will create a mystery and cliffhanger for this whole film.

To start the film opening, there is some necessary deed needed at the very beginning! In every film opening example that is sci-fi that I have watched, it always starts off with a little piece of footage and then, they show the title of the film. Some other important requirements include the crew of the film! For my project, I will be starting the storyboard tomorrow in class, and will be going through the full process of creating the film. This includes, the budget to create my film, each scene of the film, and the complete storyline of the film! I am very excited to create my film opening!

Week 2 post 4

   Today I debated on the exact layout of my film opening. I am really excited that I was able to figure out the whole concept! For the behind the scenes portion of the project, the first thing I really thought about was the color scheme! Considering the genre of the film (Sci- Fi/ Mystery), I thought it would be a good idea to start off with more illuminated colors. Over time while the “man we don’t know” is “taking over the world”, the colors will turn to more electrical and futuristic/robotic colors. I researched the type of colors for the Sci- Fi genre and multiple sources have shown that bright purples, blues, greens, and blacks are the most common color pallets for films!

For the main character in my film opening, I had a good idea for the hacker to be shown as a blue bull on the screen! I thought this was a creative idea because, bulls are very bold and people get scared of them since they are big. In this case, the bull would be portraying the creepy hacker that is turning the world technical. To create the bull like figure on the screen, I decided that I will make it using the free website “Canva” since it would work well and, it is cost effective! For the “victims” in the film, I will be using some of my family members!

For the final story plot of the film, it will be about a hacker that is attempting to make the world futuristic and getting it away from reality. The bull will show up on random peoples devices and will say a certain rule that they would have to follow. If they do not pursue the rule, there will end up being technical consequences! Overtime, these technical consequences will make the world into a more boring and a more  diverted futuristic place.

Week 2 post 3

 Yes! I am so excited to announce that I finally found the topic for my film opening! The final topic that I will be talking about, will be about technology taking over the world. For this film, It would first be starting off with a normal teenage girl. For the mise-en-scene, the objects will be the same type of objects in our present time. What I mean by this is, a good usage of technology. In the beginning, it would seem pretty normal. Over time, weird messages from an online user will start popping up on different devices. Later, the world will be following the rules of the online user!

 Today I was just thinking through some ideas and what I would like to do! I have ideas but, it is tuff for me to still make a decision!

Week 2 post one!

   Today, I looked at even more of the examples and got a better idea of what I would like my project to be about! I really think I would like to do a peaceful video about an adventure and,  just celebrate the gift of life! Before, I had a few little ideas but now, I have many more! For this particular video, I think I would want to show the beauty in nature but, I also don’t want it to be to realistic so, my plan was to create a fiction story tale (video) that mainly gives off the meaning that the world is a beautiful place but little things can hurt it! In my next blog, I will go more into depth! 

Week one post!

  I am very excited to be transitioning over to the portfolio project! This project looks very creative and fun! For this project, I would like to work by myself because, I really would like to show my own creativity! I don’t even have a clue about what I should make my project about yet! Luckily, my teacher gave us some input and made a website with all the past projects that have received an A or a B! Some ideas I was thinking about include, a farm life, being a chef, a scared teenager, and lastly a troubled teen! I need to decide on the topic soon because, I want to get started on my story board shortly!

Music Marketing Blog post #2!

Music Marketing blog #2

  The music marketing project was very creative and diverting. During the process, I have absorbed a great deal of information about marketing techniques and why we use them. My group and I, have accomplished the research, brainstorming/planning, production, post- production, and the presentation for our band! Our rock band, “Moral Bargains” was a great group to work with! Overall, this project turned out excellent! 

The first step that we decided to take hold of in our project, was to come up with a schedule! Our plan was very organized and appropriate for all of our needs. The schedule had specific dates and times put in place to make sure we got everything done great and efficiently! The picture below, is the chart which we created!

  The next two steps we made, was to create a research chart and to create a story board which would help us a lot once we got to filming. For the research chart, we decided that it would be best if we all took part and split it up. Moving onto the next step, we created a storyboard! The storyboard acted as a “script” for our “play”. The whole group worked on this so we could all have inputs in what we would like our music video to be about! While creating the story board, we came to the decision that our fellow group member (Miguel) would be playing the lead role in our band.

The board consisted of many detailed illustrations and notations to show the plan of each scene. The main topic of the story was about a young boy who was taking drugs to “cure” his frustration. Below are some examples of our storyboard!

For the production part of our project, we all met up on a Saturday night to film. For the filming process, we took use of our storyboard and followed that guide. The location we chose to film at was, an empty parking lot late at night. This was a good place to film because, since it was late and no one was around, it looked sketchy. For our music video, that was exactly how we wanted it to look!

We later moved onto the merchandise! Since we have a rock genre, we decided to feature dark colors in a lot of our items. Below are some examples of the merchandise that you can purchase.

Make sure to check out some of our socials! We thought it would be a great idea to incorporate the most popular social media apps including youtube, instagram, facebook, Spotify, and even more! The apps as well as the website we created, helped us alot with the marketing portion!

The last step in our project was the presentation. During the presentation we all tried our very best to memorize and to talk clearly to let the audience know why our band is better than just any other rock band. For the actual slide presentation, we used bullet points which ensured that we couldn’t read from the board! I think all of us knew what we were talking about and, I think it went very well!
