Welcome back bloggers! If you read yesterday’s blog post, you may know that I took a step backwards instead of forward with my project but, we are pushing through it! In this blog post, I will go through more detail on what the film will be about.
The reason I chose the name “A game” for my project is mainly because, it’s a popular quote that any athlete receives from their coaches or family members. This term means to bring your best effort when performing. Growing up as a dancer/cheerleader I’ve got told of this term over literally one million times. Wether it’s going on stage for a performance or an interview, it’s an extremely popular quote so I feel like the audience would be able to get a gist of what their about to watch when hearing the title of the doc. Now moving on from the title, my plan is to bring in two or three dancers including me and have them talk about their struggles in growing up in a world where society has a certain picture of dancers and how many people don’t see it as a sport. When someone asks what sport I do and I say, “I dance”, half the time people will say,”oh that’s cool” and the other fifty percent of the time people will say “but dance isn’t a sport” which is the one sentence that pisses me most off in the world. Moving on from that subject, I would also like to mention how dance is a way of expressing feelings. I’m going to be completely honest and say, dance is my therapy. Whenever I dance, I feel this weight push off of my chest and that weight then turns into art. Most of the doc will be clips of dancing and the audio will focus mainly on voice overs. Stay tuned for tommorows post!
