week 8 blog post #3

Hey blog! This is already my second to last blog post! Awww... It's sad how close this is coming to an end but, I still have some exciting things to talk about so lets get started! In this post, I will mainly be talking about my CCR creation. I will also be talking about the post-production process. After filming, I stated that I edited on an "easy-to use" app. The app was very easy for editing. That coming from me means a lot because, lets just say I'm not the best at editing. Everything I need was on the app and, I could locate everything quickly. Some images below are examples of me editing!

I haven't finished the CCR yet so, let's go ahead and make a script!

Hey guys! It’s me Brooke, and I am the creator of the film called “The Bull”. This two minute opening to my film is about a hacker in which if you don’t follow the game the bull is playing, something very bad will happen. I know the whole subject of it sounds a little crazy but, when you think about it, there is an important message being portrayed. The message in the film is to be careful with technology, and the way that you use it. I wanted the message to get out there so, I turned a real life issue into a fiction film!

Funny enough, the idea actually came up when my friend got a random message from some rando saying that their name was ****.  Since I know it’s not right to say their name, let’s just call him Bob. I had no idea what to make my film bout and spent a whole week figuring it out until we saw bob’s message. Thank you bob, I really appreciate it. Anyways, I wanted to create a mystery film because, that is my favorite type of genre! I looked up some examples including the movie “Murder Mystery”, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston! I also used slower cuts and regular shaky movements to make the audience feel like they are in the actors positions! Quick question?

How does my product use or Challenge  conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Well, we all know that it really isn’t that hard to get hacked these days sadly. Remember that whole mono thing….. yeah. My film challenges the normal mystery/horror convention because, normally when you view a horror film it is dark and spooky outside. Unlike the basic way of doing it, I decided to challenge it a little and  filmed during the day time! Data charts actually show that bad things happen just as much as in the day time, as they do at night! This film also represents issues in our world nowadays. I haven’t seen a single teenager without a phone in their hands in such a long time. The more they use thier devices, The more likely it is for them to get hacked, and we all know that’s not a good thing.

The next questionI would like to talk about is, How does your product engage with audiences and how will it be the distributed  as a real media text?

Well I did have to think this question through a little more but after thinking about it, I mainly want this message to go out to the teen part of the audience. The video game like structure would get the young adults attention more than it would get middle aged people. It is much more likely for a teenager to get hacked simce they are always on their phones rather than an adult. Not only is hacking bad for your device but, it could also lead to mental health issues. Studies show that many teenagers are able to get depression from online bullying. Presenting the issue will help prevent the issue. Wow am I a poet? I will be distributing my film opening on big enough sources like YouTube, and at school events since I’m not quite ready for the theater yet!

The next question is , how did my production skills develop throughout this project?

When beginning this project all I thought was oh my gosh I’m never going to come up with an idea. I was also thinking, how can a teenager be ready to make a small film opening. But, at the very end of the project I realize how much I learned and how many skills I developed. I learned much more about the music, the cuts you should use for my specific genre, more on about the topic, and just overall about 1 billion times more Knowlede than I started wirh.

The  last question I will be asking myself is,

How did I integrate technologies?

Even though  I thought this would be the toughest part to get through, so many helpful resources help me along the way. My teacher mentioned the app Canva which was literally the lifesaver to my project. I created the opening and ending credits with the app Canva. There are so many animations that you could choose from and I use the typewriter one which made it seem very realistic! Many effects were also available! When editing my project, I used the app, “Splice” instead of the original editing source I listed. This app was very easy and simple to use. It was very basic and I was able to locate everything perfectly fine!

Sadly my project has come to an end after 2 months in the making. Research, designing, and shooting, all made this project possible. Thank you so much for watching my CCR. Have a great one and, try ur best to not get hacked!

Week 8 blog post 2

Hey blog! Today I will be showing you some illustrations I have from filming! Finishing the filming was a relief! Luckily, I didn't run into any more problems other than the lighting. After I did the filming, I started the editing with the app called "Pro movie recorder". I looked for a very long time for the best editing app and that one seemed the best for the type of film I'm creating (film opening).  The editing of the film took me a while to complete because, I did have to incorporate the foley sounds. I used different foley techniques to make the sound seem more out there.

To make the walking sound, I took one of my shoes and using a recorder on my phone, I was able to capture a good sound effect. I used other sound effects too! I used an actual phone beeping as a noise but, just recorded the sound and then entered it in! I didn't run into any problems but, while filming, I decided to change the music of my film. The reason why was because, I didn't want it to seem to spooky. Since the production is more of a mystery genre, I used music for the background that just created tension in the audience's mind! See you tomorrow blog! :)

Week 8 blog post 1

Hey blog! For this week's plan, I will first be talking about the progress I made with filming! In the next two blogs coming up, I will be showing you some illustrations of my production, and I will be talking about/presenting my CCR creation! Don't worry though, I didn't forget about the major part, the film opening! So far filming has been really good although, I did have to make some alterations. One big change I had to make while creating the film was the time of the day. A few days ago when I was planning on filming, a family emergency came up and I couldn't film that night! Since the project is due soon and I'm already pushing it, I decided I have to find a different way to film! Instead of filming at night, I did it during the day time but, you won't be able to notice because, I used blankets, covers, and other tactics to hide the light.

The office space that I have been filming in is great but, there is a huge window that makes the area look happy and airy. Since my film is literally the opposite of that, I found covers to go over the windows. Don't worry though, I made sure all the little holes got covered LOL! Filming is only two shots from being done, yay! Now I need to find a good editing source! If I knew how to control it, I would want to edit on adobe premire but, it's not the easiest so, I'll be looking out for some good editing apps! I also need to complete the CCR by the end of this week! We are so close of the film coming out! Make sure your ready! See you tomorrow blog! :D

Week 7 blog post 3

Hey blog! Welcome back! Today, I don’t have much to discuss with y’all but, I do you wanna talk about some of the key moments I have had in the production I am making. This week, I struggled a lot to find the sound I was really looking for in my film. In one of the days, I did discover a perfect sound that fits in my production very good! I was very happy to find this because, I knew that most people were already starting to film and, that they had all of their sounds.

The sound I’m using, sounds definitely mysterious and scary in both ways. That was the main thing I was really looking for so it turned out perfect! In the beginning of my film, I’m planning to not have any sound and then, the sound I attached in my last blog post will start coming up during the middle to end of the film opening! Next week I will start filming! I’m very excited to see how it will turn out! See you next week blog! :D

Week 7 blog post 2

Good morning blog! Since my last blog post I was mentioning the music, now I will be mentioning the things I was actually supposed to be talking about lol! So far in my production progress I haven’t made great progress in the past week but, I did find the music and I did create the storyboard which will help me a lot during filming. Since I know the whole outline of the film, it won’t be too hard to film! Filming will take place next week and, next week during the weekend!

I am hoping that I can get most of the filming done next week because, next weekend I am very busy. I’ve been getting so much homework from all my teachers so hopefully, they would be generous enough this week to not give us as much lol! I need to start filming really soon because I’m honestly starting to run into the problem where I don’t know what to talk about in my blogs and, that is definitely a sign I should get started on filming! I’ll see you tomorrow blog, have a wonderful day! :)

Week 7 post 1

Hey blog! This week I am going on a cruise so, I decided to do my blogs a little ahead of time so I won’t have to do as much on the boat! One major thing I still haven’t done yet is finding the song or, the sounds that I will be using in my production! I am hoping that later on in my blog I will find something to use. I know a few people that DM’d songwriters to ask if they could use their song but, all of them that reached out haven’t answered back so, I’m planning on just doing an uncopywrited song.

To find the type of sounds I would like for my project, I’m going to be looking up ideas of mysterious and scary noises. Another thing I want to include in my production, is the use of Foley. I wanted to do this because, I found the project I did in class very fun and entertaining! Here is a sound I found that I would like to include in my film! It is called threatened. See you tomorrow blog! :D

Week 6 post 3

Hey blog! In my last blog posts, I talked about the change I made about filming as well as the production on the film process. Oops, I definitely did not mix these out of order. I actually said this time I’m going to make my blogs in order and now what did I do! :\

It’s ok though, we will get there eventually! Anyways, today I will be talking about the key moments I have had so far this week in the making of my project! Over the course of this weekend, I decided that I will be using a tripod and, my phone for the filming equipment! Since I knew this wouldn’t be as great as an actual filming camera, I decided to watch some tutorials on YouTube to look for ideas on how to make your videos look better by using a few tactics! The first idea one video mentioned was, to use your iPhone in the portrait mode. The reason they suggested this is because, the camera creates a depth of field effect! This didn’t help at all though because,  I found out that the portrait mode is only used for photos! Ugh…

After I realized that, I watched a separate video that talked about an app called, “ProMovie Recorder”. They mentioned that the app is easy to use and, it also takes control of exposure, focus, frame rate and other aspects that I may need! There’s even different focus points! Right now, my plan is to use this app! See you next week blog! :)

Last post I can write in...

Hey blog! I'm sad to say, our journey has come to an end! I really do like the way my film turned out however, their were a few things ...
